SpaceX, or Space Exploration Technologies Corp., is an American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company founded by Elon Musk in 2002. It is known for developing the Falcon 1, Falcon 9, and Falcon Heavy rockets, as well as the Dragon spacecraft, which are designed for the delivery of payloads to orbit and for human spaceflight. SpaceX aims to reduce space transportation costs to enable the colonisation of Mars and has achieved several significant milestones in the aerospace industry, including the first privately-funded spacecraft to reach orbit, the first privately-funded spacecraft to reach the International Space Station (ISS), and the first reflight of an orbital class rocket. The company also works on the Starship vehicle, which is intended for missions to the Moon and Mars.
