Asteroids
Asteroids are small, rocky bodies that orbit the Sun, primarily found in the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. They are remnants from the early solar system that never coalesced into planets. Asteroids vary in size, shape, and composition, ranging from a few meters to hundreds of kilometers in diameter. They can be composed of metals, silicates, and carbonaceous materials. While most asteroids are located in the asteroid belt, they can also have orbits that bring them close to Earth. These near-Earth asteroids are of particular interest due to their potential for impact with our planet. Asteroids play a significant role in our understanding of the solar system's history and evolution, as they contain clues about the conditions that existed when the planets formed.
